Beth,
I just sent this information to Tom Dasch. I am sure you and he are kin :):). Here it is again for others who are looking for this same family.
There is a book called "Crockett Cousins" by Kathryn Jones. It covers the descendents of David Crockett the Elder, the grandfather of Davy Crockett ofAlamo fame. It can be obtained from Joy Bland at [email protected] or the www.goahead.org. Make checks payable to: DDDC and send to Joy Bland, 5555 Reynoldsburg Rd., Paris, TN 38242. The price is $35.00 which includes shipping.
This book has your family under Joseph Crockett, the uncle to Davy Crockett of Alamo fame. There is no absolute proof that this Joseph Crockett was the uncle of Davy but by the very fact Mrs. Jones put this data in her book indicates she felt the evidence was there for this to be the case.
This is what your lineage is from this book:
1) Joseph Crockett, the uncle of Davy Crockett
2) William Crockett b. c. 1788 d. Carroll County, MO md. 1. Catherine ? and 2. Rhoda J. ?.
3) Edward Crockett b. c. 1832 MO md. Elizabeth Staton b. c. 1835 on 2/24/1853
4) George T. Crockett b. 2/1854 MO md. Emily J. b. 8/1871 TX
5) Carrie L. Crockett b. 1887 TX; Julia F. Crockett, and Schuyler Bailey Crockett.
Edward Crockett was living in Dallas County, TX in 1870. George T. Crockett was living in Dallas County, TX in 1900.
Siblings of George T. Crockett:
Oscar L. Crockett b. c. 1855, Mary Crockett, James S. Crockett b. c. 1867 MO, Ann Crockett b. c. 1872 TX, Dowdie Crockett b. c. 1874 TX.
William Crockett b. 1788 had a brother David. One of David's sons, William J. Crockett was in Jefferson County, KS in the early 1860's near my William Perry Crockett family. I always sort of thought this reinforced the evidence of the MO Crockett clan being kin to Davy Crockett.
Regards,
Lee Crockett
