Kathi, since you know that Rebecca Hawkins came from Baltimore Maryland maybe you also know how the Davy Crockett family got to TN. This a particularly ineresting to me. I am attempting to find out if they are related to the Crockett family of Maine. I am told that I am related to the Maine family but I see quite a few holes in the links that have been put together on this. My family moved to Canada in 1907. They came from ND. My grandfather Clarence Calwell Crockettwas born in Eldora Iowa in 1875. The book the Crocketts of Maine link this line directly from Iowa to Maine. My Grandfathers father was Nathaniel Calwell Crockett B Nov.6 1856 in Eldora. (POINT ONE)These Crocketts all had a strong southern or Texas drawl in their speech it is still evident in the survivors today. (POINT TWO)I actually inherited a part share of a Ranch owned in Texas years ago and when it was sold I got money from it. This ranch it was told by ageing relatives, was a ranch that the owner of was directly related to the late great Davy Crockett. (POINT THREE) If my Iowa relatives did come from Maine , the original Thomas Crockett from Devonshire England would have set the old english method of speech into all of his children and they would of carried that forward. I hope to spark something in your finding and research experience, anything would be wonderful.
