Something happened when I was typing this earlier and I lost it. So, I am starting over. The earlier fragment may be floating around somewhere.
What I am providing comes from the 1928 French and Armstrong book, Notable Southern Families, The Crockett Family and Connecting Lines. This comes from Chapter X, Other Crocketts, which contains bits and pieces of information of people that the authors could not fit into any particular line.
"James Anthony Crockett, called "Asher" for short. Married Sarch Blankenship in Montogomery County, Virginia, in 1800. She a daughter of Daniel and Sallie Clay Blankenship. Daniel Blankenship was born in Augusta County, Virginia, and died in Kenova, W.Va.
Children:--Blankenship
1. Archibald Blankenship
2. John Blankenship
3. Jesse Plankenship; m. Margaret Staffort in Giles County, VA. Their daughter, Permelia Blankenship, m. Levi Blankenship. A son, William Henry Blankenship, m. Margaret Ann Barnett. Their daughter, Rosalie Blankenship, married Rober W. Brown of Erwin, Tenn.
4. Joseph Blankenship
5. Sarah Blankenship, m. Asher Crockett
Copied from D.A.R. Lineage Gook for 1912, p.98. "Asher Crockett, 1760-1845. Soldier of Revolution. Served as private under Capt. Wallis and Kirkpatrick in Virginia line." Widow received a pension. He born in Hampshire, Virginia, 1760, died in Virginia in 1845. Married 1800, Sarah Blankenship. Their son was Peter Crockett (1804-1863); m. 1823, Nancy Spurlock. Their son was: Stephen Marshall Crockett; m. Matilda Caroline Hurst. Descendants D.A.R. No. is 91,303.
(This was provided by Mrs. Gertrude CrockettMorshart, married name -- Mrs. George Alexander Morshart)
This is the only reference I have seen for James Anthony (Asher) Crockett. While it is brief, it might serve as a start for you. Good luck.
