William Henry Crocker - Immigrant to USA?

Greetings. I'm a new member. I've traced my roots to Cornwall, England, and specifically from St Michael Penkevil (1600s) to Ladock, thence to Colan (near Newquay) and from there to Newcastle on Tyne, via London. I believe an ancestor may have emigrated to the USA and would ask if anyone has any information (or, even better, is related!). The relevant details are as follows:
Joseph Crocker (b Ladock, died 31 May 1853 aged 76 at Colon) m Elizabeth Tiller. They had several children, one of whom was my gt gt grandfather James Crocker, b Colan 30 Nov 1816. His trade was (initially) a draper and he moved to London where on 12 Feb 1837 he married Mary Elizabeth Godfrey. They too had many children, one of whom was William Henry Crocker, b 1844 at Newington in London. The family en masse moved to Newcastle on Tyne where James became an insurance agent, owning his own house and employing a servant. Willm Henry, it seems, married without parental consent, in 1864, to a Margaret Bainbridge - there are enough similarities on the marriage certificate to be pretty sure it's them. Willm was a steam ship engineer and in about 1867 he and Margaret were apparently in New York, because their son William Henry was born there, presumably on a 'stop over'. They all returned to Newcastle and 12 April 1878 little Willm died aged 11 (tuberculosis and meningitis). The family then disappear from the next UK census (1881) so my guess is that between William's death (1878) and 1881 they emigrated. I'm guessing to the USA and specifically New York because of their previous link but it could have equally been to Canada, Australia or somewhere else. Willm senior and Margaret would have been young enough to have had more children.
Is anyone out there able to assist me (a) as regards their emmigration status and (b) as regards any further children - this would obviously establish a family link.
Many thanks, in anticipation.
