I found your posting at Genforum from 10 years ago. I don't know what you have found. However I do have some comments
Rico is not a Croatian name, perhaps his original name was Roko (a common Croatian name) or a very, very slight chance that it was Rikard (but this name would be very rare)
I notice that Joseph and Mary are listed as being born in Iowa but do not seem to find them in any Iowa census
I notice that one census lists them as Slovak.
Also I find this Iowa marriage record
