Thank you, Robert, for the info. I did find Marta's death certificate on the LDS site (wonderful source). I am not sure if Daniel Pavich married in Michigan is Marta's son, but will keep the data just in case. In the 1920 census, a Daniel Pavich, age 21, married or widowed (the "M" or "W" is hard to read), born in Austria, is residing in Hidalgo County, TX. His occupation was listed as a soldier in the US Army. He's at Camp Sam Fordyce ?(also hard to read). Unfortunately, I've not found him in the WWI Draft Registration. I believe Daniel died in San Diego County, CA in 1984, per the California Death Index on Ancestry.com. His mother's maiden name was listed as Badovinac. From the Social Security Death Index, his SSN was issued in Ohio.

You mentioned that Marta and Nikola's uncle lived at Kamenci 2 Radatovici and that the latter was the municipal center. May I ask exactly what that was? Just curious.

Also, I found Gabre/Gabriel Pavich's obituary on either NewspaperArchive or Genealogybank. Didn't find Marta's, so Emailed the Cleveland Public Library to see about obtaining a copy. I received an automated reply that they'd get back to me, but so far, no further reply!

My husband has known the correct pronunciation of our last name, but his family has always said Baduhvineck. It rolls off the tongue easier, but sounds harsher than the correct pronunciation!

Thanks again,
Rose Mary
