That's good advice and I admit that I have often found myself looking for that exact date. I've learned, however, to look at similar dates. I have found something and feel that it could very well be the man I'm looking for. His information is not exactly what I've been told, but it's so close. Knowing that information that was recorded back then was not always accurate. His name is Vaso Papovic, (I learned that the H was added after coming to America), his estimated birth year is 1896, only three years different from what I was going by. I do know his birth date was August 15th. Birth location is Biskupija, Austria. His date of departure was August 13th or 30th (I have to go back and check), 1913 and he left from Trieste, Italy. He was 17 and his ethnicity is listed as Dalmation and the ship he left on was the Kaiser Franz Josef I. I was also focused on finding information in Yugoslavia until someone else posted reminding me that Yugoslavia didn't exist until after WWI. They said he'd be born in what was Austria-Hungary without knowing that I found the record listed above. Another person who has been posting regularly asked me to check Baltimore, Philadelphia and one other port which I don't recall off the top of my head. I'm doing that now. Do you think this information will help you find anything else that would be helpful in confirming whether this is the right person? One last thing, I was given some information on Biskupija. It seems it's located roughly 124 miles south of Zagreb. Also, Dalmatia stretches from Croatia to parts of Montenegro if I remember correctly. Notify Administrator about this message?
