Pat, My guess is that Snyderich or Schnieder was from Croatia. Schnieder in Croatian would be Snajder .... Croatian alphabet has no letter Y but... the J has a sound like Y. DILLION I would have serious doubts about this name being correct. Croatian does not use double consonants nor double vowels... it is strictly a phonetic language, unlike English if you hear a word in Croatian you know how to spell it...no silent letters and no change in the sounds of letters... Example cede and cat Maybe with more time we can find their ship manifests! There are 4 BALKOVIĆ listed in the Valpovo phone books. That area is interesting, at least to me, we were there in 1997 with our first tour group. They have very unusual folkdress... they remind me of a fancy layered cake. http://www.hrvatska.nl/gallery/displayimage.php?album=58&pos=61 Did you already about these families? Seems to me you gave different names of her new husband Certainly hope this is some new info for you Robert Notify Administrator about this message?
