Trying to find a connection with family oral history records from my Grandmother. She always stated "John Peter HELBERT was half Indian,Cherokee,. He married Sarah Jane Massie. John Peter HELBERT's mother, who was full blooded Cherokee, was SARAH/SALLIE CRITTENDEN married to G.W.HELBERT abt. 1843 in MO. Believe that SARAH CRITTENDEN was born in either TN or SC on 21 June 1821. Her father, I believe, was HENRY CRITTENDEN." Any help in verifing any of this info would be greatly appreciated. I don't even know where to look as I've just started researching this line of my family so any help on where to look for Native American records would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
