I'm afraid I don't have anything for you, but I did want to ask if you knew anything prior to late 1800s. Mary Edith Crittenden is my maternal grandfather's mother. He always said they were indian but we have yet to confirm it. Mary Edith even sent him to Red Water Reservation school to make sure he connected with that.
Mary Edith Crittenden was born in Koseosko, Attala, MISS on Jan 28, 1888 and married Grover Cleveland Lowery. Her father was James Jackson Crittenden, born in Shady Grove, Pike, AL on May 12, 1854 and he married Martha Ann Gowan. James' father was John Seales Crittenden who was born in 1817 (presumably GA but no proof as of yet) and he married Eveline Driver. Seales' father was John Crittenden born about 1791 in Georgia.
I do hope that we can make a connection and find out some of the native lineage. My mom has wanted to get this confirmed for a looooong time! She had been told Cherokee and Choctaw was in her blood... We've talked about genealogical DNA testing, but it would take some money and the line we would want to test (my maternal grandfather's mother) would be next to impossible and my grandfather has long passed away and I know that it couldn't be tested through my mother.
Anyhow, hope something here can help someone and vice versa! Cheers!
