Hello Tammy, I have these in my FTM notes: Source: "The Frampton Family, with especial reference to William Frampton Register General Province of Pennsylvania, 1686 and his Descendants" by J.S. Wrightnour DD. Published 1916? He was a farmer. Page 89 There was a supply ship containing some settlers that was wrecked off the Virginia Capes. It contained 26 Frampton's. John was washed ashore on a spar. In the meantime he caught hold of a German girl, and lashed or tied, her to the spar, and they were washed ashore somewhere on the Virginia coast. They were both exhausted when picked up. The name of this German girl was "Critchfield." She also lost all trace of her relatives, and thought they were all lost. He afterward married this German girl. She or her people were from Bavaria on the Rhine. The account of this ship wreck is given in Frost's Pictorial History, published 1849, and in the "Life of the Portisons," both out of print. This incident is recorded, it occurred about 1740. According to grandson, Elijah, John lived near Trenton, NJ. He moved to Mifflin County, PA before the Revolutionary War, where he died date not known. He & his wife Elizabeth were married in New Jersey. Info on his DOB, birth dates on his children (also Critchfield/Updyck) was found on internet http://dusty.doit.wisc.edu/crucius/fam00820.htm email from Dorothy Critchfield (dcritch@gte.net) gives info from Corinne Hanna Diller (address on Elizabeth's notes) that Elizabeth was born in Bavaria--married 1730's Trenton, N.J. John Frampton 1714-1785. Will 1728 Feb 12 of Johannes Updyck of Hopewell twp. Hunterdon Co., N.J. leaves a legacy to a William C (believe to be Elizabeth's father - he died 1772, Hunterdon, N.J." Does this match your knowledge? My husband William Frampton Ballinger, shares the Frampton line through William Frampton 1646 in PA married Elisabeth Potter.
