Dear Phil, I know what it is to start from scratch. I think I may have a match for you and your Rebecca Lawshe Crist. My family spells Laushe as Lawshe. It was originally von Laaschet. According to the website mentioned above there is a Rebecca B. lawshe as being married to a John Crist on march 8, 1838. Rebecca's father was Abraham lawshe and his first wife Elizabeth bailey born 8-20-1786 in Jersey Shore. Lycoming, PA. She was the dauhgter of John bailey and hannah(unknown). Elizabeth was married to Abraham on 11-20-1806 in jersey Shore, PA.
Abraham lawshe was born 12-16-1780in NJ. His father was John lawshe. John lawshe was born 12-14-1754 in Amwell, Hunterdon, NJ and died 2-8-1832 lewisburg PA. he was married to Eleanor Chamberlain 9-8-1779. he died 6-18-1831. Eleanor was born 9-16-1761 in lewisburg, PA She was daughter of William Chamberlain and Elizabeth ten Broeck. She died 7-4-1817.
I am related to John's brother, Henry lawshe and his decendents.
John's father and my gggggggrandfather was Abraham von laaschet.. he was born 5-12-1732 in Creyfeldt, prussia and died 1819. he arrived on the ship harle in Philadelphia on 9-1-1736 with his father, Johannes jacob von laaschet. (The original name was Von Laaschet. records indicate Abraham was the father of this branch of the Lawshe family in America. Of Creyfelt (krefeld), Prussia. Abraham von laaschet married Margaret bechelsheimer, daughter of John bechelsheimer. She was born 4-27-1723 in Amwell, Hunterdon NJ and died Nov 28 1814.
