Robin,

I might be the one to throw a monkey wrench into your family tree. I'm a descendent of Bennett's other son
Pendelton Crisp. Bennett's father is believed to be a John Crisp who married a woman by
the name of Mary. My great, great uncle (Pendelton's son) told the story many times of
how he was not truly a Crisp at all. He said that about 100 years back (this was in the
1970's when he was still living) that a boy by the name of HALLIBURTON came to live
and work with the Crisp family and eventually he took their name. This leads me to
believe that possibly the boy was bound to the Crisp family in exchange for his passage
from Europe (per gg Uncle Bruce). I am in the process of trying to find records of any Halliburton
children (old enough to work, but still young enough to be adopted)that were bound to any Crisp
families around that time.
