According to Leo Dowden and Edna M. Reiger, "Squire Crisp homesteaded 50 acres up on the ridge where the Crisptown (Evening Shade)Church and Cemetery are now." Burl Young's biography on Squire's grandson, Squire A. Crisp, also referenced Crisptown as the location where he was raised. Wright County Missouri Family History Book, p. 278.
