He mar. on Oct. 1860 to Margaret Savannah Harp, b. March 1837 in GA, d. bet 1900-1910 probably; dau. of Emanuel M. Harp and Margaret Ison.

Sarah F. Cripps may have married John L. Summey, and had a dau. Emma Margaret, b. abt 1899.In 1900, John Summey was listed as a widow; Emma was living with grandmother Margaret.In 1910 she was listed as E. Margaret Summey and living with presumably her father John L. Summey as boarders in the Troy Frazier household in Little Rock, AR.In 1880, John Summey was listed as a boarder in Christopher Cripps household; Summey was single, age 26, b. NC.His brother William, age 21 was also living as a boarder with the family.Sarah F. Cripps was listed as age 16.
