I am not an expert by any means, but since no one else has stepped up to answer, I will tell you what I know and/or have heard...

Samuel Currier Crippen was the son of Jabez Crippen of Falmouth and Thankful Fuller of the Mayflower Fullers. He was b. in 7-4-1724 in Colchester and d. 4-4-1784. He m. Keziah Algar/Algur in 1742 and had 7 children, 5 of them boys. There are He had 2 grandsons named Samuel, one great grandson named Samuel, one nephew named Samuel, a son, several grandsons, and a great and great great grandson named David... at least. Those are just what I have in my notes.
The Darius who m. Abigail Stevens is Samuel Currier Crippen's son, according to my inherited research. There is a story that Samuel was a loyalist, and went to Canada when the Revolution succeeded, as did half his sons, the other half staying in New England since they were Patriots. Eventually, however, the story goes, he came back. David Sr. is also the son of Samuel Currier Crippen and Keziah Algar, and had a son named David. The Samuel who married Esther Wheeler was his son, b. 1748.

I'm not sure exactly what the book says that you got that from, but perhaps it just wasn't clear whom it was speaking about when it talked about the names of the sons etc. The info I have is that Samuel lived in Sharon Ct. (Crippentown) and the majority of his children were b. there, but I admittedly have not read the info about his residence in VT.

Anyway, I know I didn't clear everything up for you, but hope it gives you a startng place for further research.
