Cynthia,

The Asa Crippen I was talking about (him and his wife Achsah (Axa)....went to Illinois, I'm almost certain of it. I just don't have those papers in front of me right now. But, they were married in Newark, Ohio. I saw their "transcribed" record when I was researching my family last month. Achsah's family came from Vermont, to Essex County, New York, then to Newark, Ohio and then on to Dubuque COunty, Iowa.
My connection is Achsah had a sister Caroline, who married my great great grandfather Phineas K. Williams. Caroline died in Newark and then Phineas remarried and moved to Henry County, Iowa.
His marriage to Caroline produced one child named Lucy. My cousins and I have had quite a time chasing her...but we think we found her finally (though we don't have absolute proof yet). She married Eli Beardsley and they had about 5 children, three who lived. We have found the three children but even his pension records haven't heloed us yet...
We're just trying to cement everything!
Let me know if you find anything that might be of interest to me.
Thank you.
carol
