Crippens in Early East TN

Elizabeth "Betsey" Crippen married Smith Major in Northampton Co., VA in
1796. They disappeared from Northampton Co. Tax Records in 1798. At around
this time they migrated Southward into East TN. Earliest proven evidence
of their presence in Knox Co., TN was in 1802.

I am firmly convinced that their Crippen relatives/in-laws accompanied them
in that migration. The early ADULT Crippen names in the same area were
John Crippen - paid taxes in 1806; Margaret Crippen married in 1815 (later
evidence suggests she was related to Elizabeth Crippen Major referenced
above). James Crippen appeared many times in early records and was born in
about 1759 as he was age 91 in 1850 Census.

The Smith Major family (Elizabeth Crippen) and these Crippens I've mentioned
above lived within a couple of miles of each other and began to appear in
early records at about the same time.

Anything look familiar?
