"Have Cripe ancestors in Clinton Co., IN. John C. Cripe b. 1785 in PA. any connection?" ... Why, of course!John Cripe, Sr., son of Samuel, son of Jacob is who you mean. It's not really known that he had the middle initial "C." He had a son John C. Cripe, Jr., but the way names worked at the time it doesn't really mean that the father had the middle initial. Maybe the "Jr." was just to differ between father and son. The wife of the John whom you mention was Elizabeth (last name unknown, but some have stuck a name with her with is likely wrong, and I'll not repeat it here to further confuse). They had 13 children. They are buried in Clintion Co., IN. The basic location of what was the cemetery is known, but the site is lost to information. John is known as "C-82" among the hard core CRIPE researchers. His father Samuel is "C-8" because he is listed as the 8th child. (Okay, so maybe he wasn't since we don't have his exact year of birth, but the folks who do this had to come up with some uniform numbering system to sort these folks out.) John is the 2nd child of Samuel, thus "C-82."
