John Greer

My great grandfather is rumored to have been a Crimean War Veteran. He was 20 years older than my great grandmother. His name was John Greer. He married Mary Jane Craig from Ballynahinch in County Down in the late 1870's to 1880's. It is rumored that he was married prior to marrying my great grandmother and having a family to his first wife. She passed on but I don't know anything about her or her children. I know that he was a warden in and around Ballynahinch after marrying my great grandmother. He died between 1902- 1905. I would like to find out if there is any way I can confirm his service in the Crimean War and if anyone has any information about him. Unfortunately, I do not have a middle name or initial for him.

Thanks
Penny
