Henry Stewart, 1st Regiment Foot

Hello,

I'm trying to find out anything about Henry Stewart, who was in the 1st Foot Regiment. He was a butcher to trade, working in Edinburgh, but disappears from the records between 1851 and 1861. His daughter's marriage and death records give his occupation as a soldier in this regiment, and I assume he was either killed in the Crimean war (though haven't been able to find proof of this) or was wounded and died shortly afterwards. I'd be grateful if anyone can offer any suggestions,
