Dear Lisa

There is a book published in 1973 by Canon William Lummis and Kenneth Wynn called "Honour the Light Brigade". Canon Lumis spent 60 years researching the lives of the members of the Light Brigade and the book contains approximately 2026 biographies based on his research. It is the definitive book on Light Brigade members. I have been working on a book to correct some of the errors and omissions in his work, and so have copies of the Light Brigade Muster Rolls for the war years, and a list of Light Brigade members approaching 5000 names.

Lummis and Wynn's entry pertaining to Private G. Pearce, Regimental Number 1728, indicates that he enlisted around August 1854 . . . the Muster Rolls indicate a "George Pearce" enlisted or joined the regiment on August 21, 1854. He spent from December 12, 1854 through January 16, 1855 in the hospital. He arrived in the Crimea on July 31, 1855, long after the Charge. He was sick most of the latter part of 1855 and was invalided home from Scutari on October 24, 1855. He was awarded a Crimean War Medal and a Sebastopol Clasp.

This is all the information I have. If you have any additional information, please pass it along to me. How did you know he was a drummer? Do you know his date of birth and death, and where he is buried? Do you know where he was born? How about who he married? Children, etc.?
Hope to hear from you soon.
