The 95th [Derbyshire] Regiment of Foot were at Alma, Inkerman & Sevastopol. Although the site is still under construction see The Land Forces of Great Britain, the Empire and Commonwealth web site at http://www.regiments.org/ ,the Regiments page with links to history, battles etc is at http://regiments.org/milhist/uk/inf/095-823.htm .

The regiment became part of The Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) whose museum has a web site at http://www.wfrmuseum.org.uk/ , where you will find more details of the Battle of Alma, including some drawings of the uniform of the time. They may well assist with enquiries about your ancestor. [a small donation usually helps]

Enjoy

Jeff
