Dear Jay,
The 1880 National Census Index only had a single entry that fit a John or J.T. born in SC.I provide a copy below. It looks to me to be your individual since the spouse is listed as R.J., which corresponds to Rachel Jemima. Her birth date from the cemetery record posted previously also is correct, allowing for the month in which the census was taken; you would need to look in the AL 1880 census microfilm to confirm; significantly she also is given as born in SC, as also indicated in the cemetery record.Interestingly, this 1880 census record shows that they had a son, J.L. Crim.It would be useful to run down all J.L. Crim's born in AL as found in the 1900 census, assuming he lived to the age of 28.Maybe someone on this Crim GenForum could help you locate this child, to confirm his descendency.;-)
Anyway, I am pretty confident that these are your individuals, in AL, on their way to AR, apparently.
Hope this is a good lead for you.
