James K. Polk was the eighth child of
James and Meeky "Owens" Crider. He married
Sarah Tackitt dau.of Phillip and Rachel
Tackitt on 7 Feb 1866. James was born abt
1844 in Gasconade Co MO. sarah was born
May of 1847.
They had nine children, Charles Theordore
Crider was the seventh child of James K
Polk Crider, and Sarah Tackitt Crider.
born Byron in Osage County, Missouri on
July 12 1882. this information comes from
his fathers pension record. James K Polk
enlisted at Linn, in Osage County, Missouri
on 4 Sept 1864. Prior to that he served
in the 9th and 28th Regiments of Missouri
Enrolled Militia. Where he held the rank of
Corporal. Upon his enlistment in the regular
army he was assigned to Company F of the 48th
Missouri Infantry Volunteers. He was on duty
until July 3 1865. After discharged in St Louis, he married Sarah Tackitt. They established their home near Wollam and in the
Nubbin Ridge neighborhood. Polk Crider died
1 Apr 1903 Sarah applied for widows pension
on Nov 29 1917 after the death of her second
husband Richard Hayes who died 25 Dec 1909.
There was no children born to this union.
Sarah died 29 July 1919, Here and James K
Polk Crider are burried in Bethel Cemetery
near Rosebud where they had lived.
I am the grandaughter of James Crider, and
Meeky Owens Crider whom are the parents of
James K Polk Crider.
