Mike, I did not get enough about your Willis to know if this is a good clue. My John Crews was b in the 1770's in Va, mar 1798 in Bedford Co, Va to Clairy Merritt. They had three children; Prosser b 1801, Mary and Willis b abt 1804. I found a paper or exerpt from a book, Some Pioneers in Georgia, 1805. I figure this had to do with the land lottery. It named John Crews and wife Clary Merritt. There were other Crews, also. I have found no other clue to John Crews since then. In the 1820's, Clary Crews was noted in LaRue Co, Ky to have purchased about 40 acres of land from a Middleton. The two who signed with her were Prosser Cruse and Willis Cruse. Clary Cruse also signed the marriage of her dau, Mary to a Larkin in Ky. John just was not there. No relationships were named but I know Prosser was her son, due to circumstantial evidence. He named his first dau, Clarissa. He lived near where Clary his mother bought land. However, I have no other track of Willis. He may have gone to another Ky county, back to Va, or Georgia or to another state. There was a Willis who married a day and another marriage. I don't know if this is the same one. Can you tell me more about your Willis? Janet Cruse Jensen of Ky and Az
