Tracy, do you have Redman Crews' 2nd wife, Sarah's maiden name? Redman's first wife, Winifred Ricketts, died in 1861 in Pike Co., Illinois, then Redman took his youngest sons, George and Wyatt Crews, to Dallas, Texas, with him and the boys stayed with Archibald Buckner Lanier when Redman moved to Knox Co., Indiana,in 1865, and married Sarah___. Redman died in Knox Co. in 1899 (Will).
He was the eldest son of David Morton Crews Sr. and wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Smith, daughter of Jeremiah Smith and wife, Diana__.

Benjamin Crews was born in 1818, was a much younger half brother of David Morton Crews Sr.(1789-1879) They were sons of Redman Crews (1765-1833/4), born in Charlotte Co., Va., son of John Crews Jr. and wife, Sarah Redman.
Redman Crews was a Soldier in Lee's Va. Legion, fought and was injured in South Carolina in 1781. Redman's first wife was Sarah Morton. I don't know his 2nd wife. He may have been married 3 times. He had 16 children, his youngest, Redman Jr. was age 9, and Barbara was age 7 in 1831 when Redman applied for his pension. Redman's eldest son, George Crews, raised Redman Jr. and Barbara after their father died.
