James Vandaveer was born on 31 October 1802 in Casey or Christian County, Kentucky. He was the father of 16 children. He died on 16 March 1890 and is buried in Locust Grove Cemetery. He was the son of Charles Vandaveer, born 12 February 1781 in North Carolina. Charels died 29 April 1847. He's buried outside Poseyville Indiana. He married Hannah Jones on 13 October 1801 in Kentucky. Hannah was born in 1777.
James Vandaveer married Esther Price daughter of Joseph Prices and Ann Gillison about 1821 in Posey County, Indiana. Esther was born November 1803 and she died 19 August 1848.
James and Esther had 7 children.
Mary Ann Vandaveer born about 1826 in Indiana. Mary married Squire J. Frazer about 1840 in Wayne County Illinois. Sqire is buried in Locust Crove Cemetery. Who her second husband was we don't know.
Thompson Price Vandaveer was born about 1827. He married Harriett ? she is buried in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Esther Vandaveer was born about 1828 little is know about her.
My Grandfather James Larkin Vandaveer was born 11 November 1830 in Mt. Erie, Wayne County, Illinois, he died on 5 March 1859 and is buried in Locust Grove Cemetery. He married Mary Borah daughter of Samuel Borah and Sarah Massey on 10 February 1853. Mary was born 30 June 1830, and died in 1879. Mary married a Alfred F. Calvin the second time.
Charles H. Vandaveer was born about 1837.
Ira Wayne Vandaveer was born 1840 and died at 16 on 16 October 1856. His brother James named his son after him.
Sarah Jane Vandaveer was born in 1844 she married a Neighbors.
James Vandaveer Sr. married a second time to Nancy Crews about 1849 in Wayne County Illinois. Nancy was born on 4 August 1820 She died on 9 September 1887 and is buried in Locust Grove Cemetery. People say she is the daughter of 3 different men. I have come to think that Andrew Crews is her brother, not her father. If he is her father he would have been 10 when she was born. I think it's James Crews.
James Vandaveer and Nancy Crews had 6 children. I only know the names of 4.
Rev. Albert Vandaveer born in 1851, lived in Willow Hill, Illinois
John W. Vandaveer born about 1854, John lived in Springfield Illinois
Matthew Edwin Vandaveer born about 1856, he married Maggie ?
George W. Vandaveer born about 1858 he married Lizzie.
James had other children but I don't know their names. Hope this clears up some of the Who's the Vandaveer and Who's the Crews questions.
