I have several James Crew's in my records that may be yours. The most likely cadidates were born 1834, 1839, 1840. Also have a James P. b. 1840. He seems the most likely as his father's name was William (like the eldest son of your James). The P came from a census which might have been wrong. All of these came from the Howard County, MO area and all are related to my Crews line (I think). Let me know if you think there is a connection.
