Hello Susan!
Firstly, a belated note of thanks for responding to my posted message re Ontario Crews.
Through family sources, I have since learned that my great-grandfather Issac Crew was the son of Daniel Crew and his wife Mary Jane (nee ?), and was born in PEI (likely Crapaud Township, where the family farmed) in 1851.His siblings were William (b. 1839), George (b. 1841), Richard Henry (b. 1844), Charles (b. 1846), Matilda (b. 1847), Martha (b. 1849), and Rebecca (b. 1854).Daniel, Mary Jane, and their first seven children relocated in 1852 to Scarborough in Upper Canada, where Daniel died three years later (and one year after Rebecca's birth).
It is thought that Daniel was the son of George Crew (b. 1770), and that his siblings were:Benjamin (b. 1800), Joseph (b. 1805), and at least one other male and one female (names unknown).Apparently, all of George's children were born in England. It is unknown whether they came directly to PEI, or via Nova Scotia or the U.S.
If any of this connects to your records, please let me know.
Thanks,
Vic
