Hi Karen,
I have read your message a few times, but now curiosity has got the better of me. There might not be a link, but my family follows a very simular path to yours. All of my family originate from the Nottingham and Derbyshire area's. Even to the point of moving to Yorkshire in the early part of the 20th century. I have only just started to research my family, but even now I know that there are many Cresswell's that I have not researched. Maybe you could throw a few more names at me to see if there is a link.
