Dear Mrs. Turbak:
It looks like we are looking for the same people. My Grandmother was Lula Creps, married Sam Billingsley in Autagua, Alabama in 1896, her mother was Mary Martin. I contacted the social security administration and all I got was Allen Creps (A.J.) as my grandmother's father and Mary Martin as her mother from Georgia. We are trying to trace my grandmother's side back as we know she was Cherokee Indian but proving it is something else. My father was A. J. Billingsley, from Selma, Alabama, Mary Martin died I believe in Benton, Alabama, which is a few miles from Tyler, we used to go out there and pick pecans and her sister Aunt Rena(sp) lived there also. My dad's sister, Clara Bell lives with her half sister in Dempolis, Alabama, but she is about 95 and she doesn't even remember my grandmother's maiden name (Creps) so that hasn't been any help. I have talked to my dad's side of the family and no one ever spoke of the Creps side. If you find out any info, I would appreciate an email and if I find out anymore, I will be happy to email you. We even went to the Mormom Church here as they have very good records but could not find any info on them, with the Monroe name, and Leonard and Holland name, you can visit your nearest Mormom Church(call first) and they have records, files, film, everything you can think of, I hope we can find out something on our ancestors. We live in Milton, Florida, most of the Billingsley's still live in Alabama. Carlton Billingsley, my first cousin (my dad's brother's son) lives on the old home place in Autauga County but he doesn't known anything either.
William E. Billingsley
I guess we are some how related.
