Joyce,
I am so sorry I have not seen this before and commented. I have not worked on this line for a very long time now, and just picked it up again tonight.
Unfortunately, Bernice (Aunt Niecie to us) died Sept. 16, 1996. She had complications from Lupus. She left me a lot of information. I've had to correct some of it, but not much. My g-grandmother, Bessie Crenshaw Guinn, had started family research many years back, but she had a few things wrong, too (mostly in the Guinn line).
You may by now know some of the answers to questions you had, since it has been a long time. I'm more than happy to give you what I have.
Noah Smith Crenshaw, b. 4/8/1854, d. 12/15/1939, m. Sarah Emily Norris 9/8/1881. Sarah Emily was b. 1/26/1856, d. 3/22/1923. Noah and Sarah are buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Almeda Genoa Road, Houston, TX, next to my grandparents, Roy and Hazel Guinn, and my daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Hartman.
Sarah's parents were John Sanford Norris and Sarah Ann Wilkerson. Sarah's first husband was Alexander Seaborn Brockman, whom she married at age 17. Alexander's father was a doctor.
Noah's parents were William Taylor Crenshaw, b. 8/17/1829 in Anderson Co., SC, d. 7/6/1906 in Nevada, Collin Co., TX. He married 3/21/1847 in Henry Co., GA to Nancy Matilda Hodnett, b. 5/26/1830, d. 4/20/1890 also in Nevada, Collin Co., TX. Their children were 1.)John Harrison Crenshaw (m. Mary Francis Norris, sister of Sarah Emily), 2.)Letitia according to family records, but census records say her name was Vicy A.E. Crenshaw, 3.)Noah Smith Crenshaw, 4.)Martha J. "Mattie" Crenshaw, 5.)William Brady Crenshaw, and 6.)Walter Pierce Crenshaw.
A cousin (wife of cousin from John Harrison Crenshaw) and I have been trying to find the parents of William Taylor Crenshaw for years. We have about come to the conclusion that he was either hatched, or dropped by aliens from a spaceship.
Cindy Hartman
