I don't think that your ggrandfather Jack is the same one that I refer to. The Jack I speak of was born about 1922. I also heard that he flew P-51 Mustang fighters during WW-II. Also, he was born and raised in Iosco County which is well north of Fenton. Though I did read your message where you talk about the Crego name being originally from Spain. That's true as far as I can tell. I've been told by my father that it used to be DeCrego. Also there is something about being connected to the Heuganauts,I'm sure that's spelled wrong. There was some royalty having to escape France before they got there heads chopped off. A bunch of Crego's on the run, so it seems. I can't prove the last bit about France, but it's something I've heard in growing up.
My family moved west from New York and the reason, or at least one of the reasons was that they were loggers and they moved along to where the work was.
