Another source notes an unidentified son of one William Earwood, who had the following child:
Thomas Earwood born in Lincoln Co. North Carolina before 1809. He took out bond to marry one Mary "Creasman",(spelled creesman) after August 1830(bond date) in Lincoln Co.
Perhaps this is our adopted Edward
Earwood's parents?
