Hello Kath,
Thanks for prompt response. 1st question, were your family Catholics or Protestants? There is only a small chance of intermarriage between the two in the mid 19th century; mine were Protestants and mainly from the area round Stabannon.
Have looked at my research notes and I find the following references to Laurence Crawley, (don't pay too much attention to the slighly different spelling). All references are from records at National Archives, Dublin
1. Index to Probates and Administrations 1858 - 1877: Laurence Crawley Will Proved in Principle Registry in 1863;
2. Testamentary Calendars: Laurence Crawley, died 25 April 1889 Proved Armagh Registry 1902 by his widow, Alice;
3. Index to Dublin Grant Books & Wills 1800 - 1858: Laurence Craawley & Catherine D'Mede D'Joncourt , Marriage Licence 1816, (so Church of Ireland)
No.3 is very unlikely to be the father of William, but either of the first two might be - do you know when he died?
I would like to hear more about your family from Dundalk which, as you will know, is close to Stabannon. I am posting a message about a Hugh Crawley, Dublin Coal Merchant, who was born in Dundalk circa,1793 and am anxious to try and find descendants.
Good hunting!
Tim
