Makes sense. Our Crawford relative, Susan Crawford spelled it Crofert.

What makes everything difficult is that, going through first names that move from place to place, the "t" and "d" at the end of names was fairly interchangeable.

What do we know concerning the offspring and grandchildren of either Mackornock or Galfridus de Crawfurd?

------------------
Names that were not Latin were usually Latinized when written down in official records - Galfridus / Gaufridus seems to be from Galfrid / Gaufrid - which is two of the many origins of the name Geoffrey:

- / - geoffrey (from) geoffroi (from) galfrid, gaufrid (from) gewi fridu, gawia frid=(orig) peaceful district, peaceful territory;

- / - geoffrey (from) godfrey (from) galfrid, gaufrid (from) walfrid, walfred (from) wal frid (from) walt frid=powerful protector, peaceful ruler;
