Owen McCravey of Ireland>North Carolina
Owen McCravey migrated from Rescommon County, Ireland in the early 1700's
to North Carolina where he shorted his name to Cravey. Thereby, being known as Owen Cravey, Sr. He married twice but only his second wife's name is currently known.He died about 1795 and his widow and children then moved to Burke County, Ga. From there they scattered to other parts of Georgia, Alabama and Texas.
Owen’s name first appeared in Chowan County (Bertie District), North
Carolina tax roles in 1721.He probably lived very near Edenton, N.C.
which was founded in 1720 and became the county courthouse in 1722.
