Thank you both for your follow ups. I have not yet made any hard fast connection of my Great Granparents (James P. Crate and Marie Louise Fortin) to James Wm and Hannah Foster. James P. Crate was born in March of 1881. I do not know his parents names, but do know that he was born and raised in Hawkesbury. He was a carpenter, according to his war records. He fought with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WWI, having enlisted in Ottawa in 1916. He would have been a very late addition to the James Wm / Hannah Foster Family. I have also found a little information on James A. Crate that seemed to live around the same time frame as James Wm and Hannah Foster's children. He would have been the last born, but again, I have no concrete evidence of that. James A. may actually have been James P.'s father, but no links yet. As indicated earlier, there is a James in every generation of my family from James P. down, so my guess is that it was carried on a while into history. My hopes were dashed when I could not find the "Family of an Officer" document in his WWI File. I had found that for another family line that I am investigating, but no such luck with James. James P. died in Ottawa in 1970. Marie Louise passed away in 1964. Both are burried in Ottawa. Any information this might jog loose would help greatly.
Gail, thanks for the offer of the pictures. I'll hold off for now. Also, I have no letters from Hannah Foster, but do beleive I ran into someone (a Crate) that might know a little. I will contact her when I get a chance and see what I come up with.
