Mulford CRANE, middletown OH - 1823/77

I have been trying to trace my gg gf, William S(ylvester?) CRANE by following his wife's lineage, the DOTY clan. In Middletown, Ohio, I was snooping for the two names and came across a Mulford CRANE, 2/22/1823 - 3/23/1877. He is buried in the Middletown Pioneer Cemetery, which is on the Butler county side of Middletown. I found this info on Find-A-Grave, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsr=1441&GScid=1409070&GRid=57471441&

The name Mulford (as a first name) clicked as there are MULFORD's (as a last name) in the lineage of John CRANE, 1764/1843, who was married to Elizabeth MULFORD. (see post #1479 for example,
http://www.genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?mulford::crane::1479.html ).

Another (shorter) post has this lineage (#2169, http://www.genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?mulford::crane::2169 ):
John Crane (1764-1843) and Elizabeth Mulford Crane (1775-1828), of New Jersey. Children: Harriet, Jonathan Mulford, Elias, Huldah, Elizabeth, Orpha, Deborah, Sylvester, Mary and Daniel. Some members of this family moved to Ohio and Indiana."

Anyone able to make a connection between these two Mulford's?
