Wilkes Co. NC CRAIN's

Looking for input on a theory I'm working on which may connect my ancestor, Joel Crain, b. 1813 in North Carolina and the John Crain that appears in the Wilkes Co., NC census in 1820 & 1830.

This is the Joel Crain, age 36, that appears in the 1850 Macon Co. Missouri census. He lists his birthplace as North Carolina. Also listed is a Nancy Crain, age 70 who is possibly his mother. He married Edna Anderson in Howard Co. Missouri in 1833. He apparently died sometime between the 1850 and 1860 census, as Edna Crain appears in 1860 as a widow and Nancy Crain, aged 81 is still living with her. In all subsequent census records, his children list their father's birthplace as North Carolina.

I have reviewed all of the Crain's in the 1820 and 1830 census for North Carolina. John Crain of Wilkes Co. NC, is the only listing that has a son the right age, and a female of Nancy's age range.

I'm looking for anyone that might have information on this John Crain that could prove, or disprove that he might have been the father of my Joel Crain.

Incidentally, Joel & Edna named their first born son John.
