I have heard this tale of deception but have never found it creditable. Jane Tallifarro was married to John Craig who died on the trip from Scotland. My research as traced his roots back a few generations in Scotland. Jane settled in Spotsylvania County with her brothers. The rest of the story matches well with what I have found. The two origin stories have been around for a long time, but the one you tell is the one which has not held up to the records. I am descended from John Toliver Craig Born 1809. Son of Taliaferro Craig III Born 1764. Son of Taliaferro Craig Jr. Born 1736. Son of Taliaferro Craig Born on Ship in 1704. Any info you have would be very helpful in letting me know from which line you are from. I use the Family Tree Maker program which has a place for pictures which I put in the program where I have them.I fill out all lines in the program where I have the information. My cousin in Texas has helped me with a lot of the info I have. I can send you a copy of the file on disc for free in exchange with what you have. I can also send a copy of the book I have been working on which is a print out along with some of the other research, for $30.00. The e-mail address you posted I could not access for some reason. Mine is robincee@hotmail.com. Please respond there and I will save you e-mail address then. Notify Administrator about this message?
