Pam, I believe that your Asa Craig could be a brother to my gggrandmother Nancy E. Craig Greear Canfield. As the civil war records I ordered on her 1st husband John R. Greear(he died during the civil war) has Matilda G Craig signing that Nancy E Greear was the spouse of John Greear and that she was the mother of his children so she could draw a pension on the children. It is dated 14 March 1865 Montgomery County, IL. Also on the 11 April 1867 I also show that a James G. Craig signed a Widow's application for the increase of her pension. This was also in Montgomery Co., IL. On the 1850 census of Carroll Co., TN I found Asa Craig, 31 m, farming, b. TN: Matilda G. Craig, 28 f, b. NC: James G, 10 m, b. IL: Minerva E, 7 f, b. TN: Setta N, 5 f, b. TN: Sarah E., 4 f, B. TN:, William 6/12 m, b. TN. I have no Parents for Nancy. Susan Greear Womack, firstname.lastname@example.org( Also have 1860 Benton Co. TN census.
