David:
I was sent your very well written & interesting article on Cockermouth. When I read your page on Those who were left behind, I see you have my relative Isaac who married an Ann who is a widower in 1881 in Kendal England mixed in with your Isaac whose widow Sarah is there too. My relative was living with the Riggs family occup. Hawker. He is found in 1871 Census living there with his wife Ann in North Ward of Kendal at ?Wildman St.He is still a Hawker who has been in area since 1861 Census. I believe I found them in 1851 in Kendal at Strickland Gate. Let me know what you think. I might be able to add to your studies with mine. This branch is my maternal grt grandma. Mary Ann Cragg 1851- 1923. She married John Otway 0n 25 Jan 1873 in Kendal District. Witnesses to vows is John & Hannah Cragg. Mary Ann and John Otway emigrated with her 14 adult children in 1907 to Fort William [now Thunder Bay] Ontario Canada. I know no one in England related to her. On her marriage document 1873, her Dad's profession is listed as a Hawker. His name is Isaac Cragg but no wife's name mentioned.
