Crafts of Morris Township, Washington Co, PA

I'm descended from the line of Crafts of the Morris Township in Washington County, PA. Let's see, John Craft and Mary Menigan are my GGGGG Grandparents. My great grandparents, John Craft and Margaret Carroll left PA for Polo, Missouri around 1877 and then settled in Wyandotte County, Kansas where they had my Grandfather, Louis Emmett Craft b. May 2, 1881. He was the youngest of three children that I know of. The oldest being Lilian May Craft b. May 14, 1869 followed by Carlos Cortez Craft b. 1874. I also found Carlos listed as "Charles C. Craft" and "Carlis C. Craft" in Kansas City, KS historical records.

Louis Emmett Craft marries a Bertha Baird sometime after 1910 and they have three children that I know of: Hubert K Craft b. 1913, Retta Y Craft b. 1914, and Rayborn L Craft b. Sept. 1919. The 1920 US Census shows that Louis and Bertha are divorced. On September 23, 1921 my father Clarence B Craft is born in San Bernadino, CA. He is Louis' first child with second wife Pearl Collins.

I've been trying to find out how Louis and Pearl met. Pearl Collins was from Doddridge County, WV but left without a trace in the fall of 1920. She left her husband and two young sons behind. I've recently connected with her (my newly-found) family in WV and they have been searching for her for years. Louis Emmett Craft has also been hard to track down. My father's last memory of him was in 1930 during the Sacramento earthquake. Pearl told her children that he had died in an accident when a tunnel caved-in on him. We don't know if it was train or mining-related. I have no death records for him. We are trying to piece all these puzzles together.

If there's anyone out there who can add more to this story, please respond. Also, is there an annual Craft Family Reunion in Morris County, PA?

Thanks to all those who help make family research possible.

Sally Craft Brucker
