I really know very little about Martha A. In fact we only learned her name when we obtained the death certificate for my husband's grandfather, Joseph Phillip Sherrard, which listed his mother as Martha A. Craddock of Amelia County, VA. Joseph Phillip's father Joseph Sherrard was b. 1810 and married Sydney Ann Flowers, Oct. 20 1836. Sydney Ann died after the 1860 census. Joseph re-married Martha A. Craddock and they had their first child, Emyann in 1865. Martha Ann had 3 children with Joseph, each of them born in Montgomery County. Sometime shortly before Joseph's death in 1881 they moved back to Montgomery Co. I found a family tree on the internet that included the third child of this couple, Ella Josephine Sherrard who married George Grice which listed her mother as Martha Elizabeth. The best "possible" lead I have come up with is that my husband's great-grandmother may have been Martha Ann Elizabeth Craddock, the daughter of James Giles Craddock. The record I found indicated that this person was born in 1836 in Amelia County. Sounds like there may be a connection of some sort between your Martha A. and our Martha A., but am not sure whether they are the same person. I would like to know more about Craddocks in Montgomery County to see where our Martha A. might have tied in.
