I have read several accounts that claim that William Craddock, who was later named Provost Marshall of Bermuda Hundred, was shipwrecked on Bermuda by Shakespeare's "Tempest" before finally arriving in Virginia. What are the primary sources for this information? What other information on this elusive William Craddock/Craddouke has been gleaned from primary sources? Also, what, if any, is his connection to Robert Craddock who arrived in Virginia ca. 1634? Do William and Robert have any provable connection whatsoever to Matthew Craddock of Massachusetts?
