John and Mary Ann Cracknell had two sons who married Maori women. They could speak Maori and were despatch riders during the Maori wars. John Cracknell had a bullock team and cut out many of the roads in the Hawkes Bay area where they moved to from Wellington. They also had a daughter.
John and Mary Ann are my great great gandparents.
