My great great grandmother is Mary Alice Crabtree. I was just told by my great Aunt thay Mary Alice and Lotta were 1st cousins and that my great great grandmother went back to New York, USA after her death to contest her will. Lotta's father was John Ashworth Crabtree who died Jan 4, 1894 in Altrincham, England. Supposedly his father's name is Henry Albert Crabtree. According to the UK death index he (John Ashworth Crabtree) was born about 1820, but I have also seen 1818 as a birth date. According to the 1891 UK Census John Ashworth was born in Bacup, Lancashire, England. I have not found evidence yet of my great great grandfather, Thomas Dawson Crabtree (b July 20 1821 in Virginia, USA supposedly), being supposedly brothers with John Ashworth Crabtree. I know during the contestment of Lotta's will in 1924, there was a genealogy report submitted as evidence to the courts and a Mary Alice Crabtree Stallworth testified. Unfortunately I have not been able to get a copy of it. You might also check, I was just given a possible Crabtree relative, William H Crabtree, that came from England in 1705 and settled in Maryland, USA. I hope some of this info helps you.
