Below is my William P. Cozart born 1820 in tenn. We lost him after 1853 when they divorced. I believe I may have found him in 1870 in Alameda county California age 51. He was living by some Chinese boarding houses. In 1870 He was living alone.

1. William P. COZART was born in 1820 in , , Tn.
William married Mary Jane WRIGHT, daughter of John WRIGHT and Martha (Patsy) POWELL, on 27 Oct 1844 in Greene, Greenville, Tn. The marriage ended in divorce. Mary was born in 1828. She died in 1880 in Webster, Mo.
They had the following children:

3 F ii. Emma Elizabeth COZART was born on 6 Sep 1845 in , Green, Tn and was christened on 7 Jul 1855 in Greenville, Green, Tn, Epscl Church. She died on 1 Dec 1918 in Claremore, Rogers, Ok and was buried in Cane Hill, Wash, Ak.
Emma married John Thomas REYNOLDS Captain, son of Sharp REYNOLDS and Mary Parker RUSSELL, on 7 Aug 1861 in Greenville, Green, Tn. John was born on 8 Mar 1834 in , Isle of Wight, Va and was christened in 1888 in Fayetteville, Wash, Ak. He died on 18 Jan 1890 in Cane Hill, Wash, Ak.

In the 1840 Carroll Co. TN census there is listed a Wm. P. COZART: 2 males under 5, 1 5-10 yrs., 1 10-15 yrs., 1 30-
40 yrs; Females: 1 under 5, 1 5-10 yrs., 1 20-30 yrs.
This would make him b. ca. 1800-10.; wife b. ca. 1810-20.
In Green Co. TN (across the state) Wiliam P COSART m. Mary Jane WRIGHT on 26 Oct. 1844.
In the 1850 cenus in Knoxville is listed Wm. COZART age 30 (ca 1820) with wife Mary age 25 (ca. 1825) and
daughters: Emma (my G-gramdmother) age 5. and Martha (aka "Mattie") age 4.
Wm. P. and Mary Jane divorced in Green Co. 20 Oct. 1853. His where abouts unknown. What happened to him? Is he
the same Wm.P. in the 1840 Carroll Co. TN. census? Any help that would shed light on this mystery would be greatly
